Synopsis The Integrated Information theory (IIT) attempts to account for what consciousness is and infer the properties of its physical substrate. Although IIT has been receiving increasing attention from neuroscientists in recent years, there are not enough studies to test the theory. We will organize the workshop of IIT, consisting of a tutorial and a 4-day camp, as a satellite program of Neuroscience 2020. Here in the tutorial, we aim to facilitate the researches by explaining the core of the theory and giving an outline of empirical approaches. Specifically, Giulio Tononi, the proponent of IIT, will introduce the central concepts of the theory. Then, the tutorial will provide an overview of practical frameworks and their applications.

Synopsis We will organize the workshop of IIT, consisting of a tutorial and a 4-day camp, as a satellite program of Neuroscience 2020. Here in the camp, we aim to provide an opportunity for students and researchers to achieve a greater understanding of IIT through discussion with the proponent and other researchers working on the theory. We will also seek novel ways to facilitate testing IIT throughout the camp, which will launch new projects towards an in-depth understanding of consciousness.
